The JAYS Organization has a proud and storied history that began in the mid-1980s with Robert and Leslie Lee, who led a group of high school athletes on a journey to their college baseball careers. This foundation formed what would become the Houston JAYS, a team that quickly made a name for itself by winning the College Summer Baseball Association’s National Tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio, earning their first National Championship.

After that initial success, the first generation of JAYS players moved on to flourish at both the collegiate and professional levels. However, it wasn’t until 2000 that the JAYS would return to the field, revived by Robert Lee as the Houston Baseball Academy (HBA) JAYS.

Over the next 15 years, the HBA JAYS established themselves as one of the premier baseball organizations in the Northwest Houston area. The program became known for providing a unique and enriching experience, creating memories and lifelong friendships for its players. In 2015, the first core group of JAYS players graduated to play their final season together as college athletes, marking the end of an era.

The JAYS were reborn in 2021 when Robert’s son, Carson Lee, revived the organization as the One Percent Academy JAYS. Today, our players are driven by the mindset of getting One Percent Better every day—an approach that permeates not just their baseball skills, but their personal growth. Every day is a chance to improve, and we aim to provide a baseball experience that extends far beyond the game itself.

At the heart of the JAYS is a commitment to teaching the fundamentals of baseball, building baseball IQ, and fostering a culture of mentorship and support. Our players are surrounded by role models who guide them through both the triumphs and challenges of their careers, helping them build a foundation for success on and off the field. The JAYS Family isn’t just about baseball; it’s about preparing players for life, helping them lead with integrity and perseverance long after their time in the game has ended.

As we continue to grow and build our legacy, we’re proud of the alumni who have come before us and excited for the generations of JAYS players to come. With every player who joins the organization, we add another chapter to a story that spans multiple decades, and one thing is certain:
